Adina Deer Park

Area: Out of the total forest land 56.16 ha. of Adina Forest, only 7.49 ha has been utilized for deer enclosure.

Location: The Deer Park is located in the Malda district under Gazole P.S. It is 22 Km. away from Malda town toward North, About 2.5 k.m from Adina Mosque. The approach road of Adina from Malda Town is 19.5 K.M by NH34 and 2.5 K.M brick soling road.

Species Maintained : Spotted Deer-98;Blue bull(Nilgai) - 03.

Main source of attraction: The area is enriched various trees, Bamboo, bushes & climbers which created an forest like ambience where Deer ( Axis ), python, kaum , Badrica , Indian porcupine, goose, Jangle cat, open bill stock(seasonal) and Kingfisher are found. There are 9 big and small ponds within the Adina Forest area which adds beauty to the location.

Alipur Zoological Garden

Area: 20.498 ha.

Location: The zoo is in South Kolkata on Belvedre Road. National Library and Taj Bengal Hotel are two nearby landmarks. Majherhat and New Alipore are the nearby railway stations. It is well connected to all parts of the city by bus services. Buses are available from Sealdah, Howrah station. One can avail the bus service from Rabindra Sadan or Maidan or Jatin Das Metro Station also.

Though, the Zoo has a large collection of birds and mammals,the major attractions of Alipore Zoological Gardens are Royal Bengal Tiger, African Lion, Jaguar, Hippopotamus, Great Indian One-horned Rhinoceros, Reticulated Giraffe, Grant's Zebra, Dromedary Camel, Indian Elephant. Birds like Macaw, Golden Pheasant, Cassowary, Ostrich, Touracos, Lady Amherst's Pheasant, Emu and Hornbills. Rare Common Marmosets from Brazil is found here. Some of the animals are displayed in near natural environments within enclosure.

Garchumuk Mini Zoo

Area: The zoo is spread over 4.00 ha. of land.

Location: In District Howrah,near Uluberia rail station, the zoo is by the side of the river Ganges where there is a beautiful barrage. The mini zoo is well connected with road and rail. It is 60 km away by road from Howrah district HQ and 15 km from Uluberia Railway Station.

Species Maintained: At present the number of animals in the zoo are: Spotted Deer - 83 nos; Nilgai -2 nos; Peacock - 4 nos; Porcupine - 8 nos; Black Buck - 1 no.

Jhargram Deer Park

History: Jhargram Mini Zoo started as a deer park in the year 1980, within a patch of natural Sal forest.

Area: 33.20 ha.

Location: The area is located within the municipal limits of Jhargram town.

Kumari-Kangsabati Deer Park

History: Kumari-Kangsabati Deer Park, also known as Banpukhuria Deer Park, was established in the year 1982 over an area of 30.65 hectare of fenced area adjoining to the Beat Office complex.

Area: Inside the forest area, an area of 41.5 hectare.

Location: Banpukuria Deer Park is located in Southern West Bengal in Bankura District under jurisdiction of Bankura (South) Division. The Area falls under Banpukuria Beat of Ranibundh Forest Range and is contiguous with the non-forest tract of Manbazar P.S. of Purulia district.

Animals of the Zoo: The present population of 54 nos.of spotted deer (16 male, 26 female and 12 fawn) is increasing year after year.

Kunjanagore Eco Park

History:The area now under Kunjanagore Eco - Park falls within Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary under Wildlife-III Division. The beginning was made somewhere around 1996 when the Forest Department thought of developing the site as an Eco-Tourism spot. Later, with the involvement of local people, the Kunjanagore Eco Park was opened on 6th October 1996.

Area: The Park extends over an area of 10 ha.

Location: The Kunjanagore Eco - Park is a mini zoo, located in the Jalpaigiri district of West Bengal within Falakata Block under Alipurduar Sub-division.

Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park

History: It was formerly known as Himalayan Zoological Park and was established on 14th August, 1958 in Darjeeling (West Bengal) as a joint venture of Govt. of India (Department of Science and Technology) and Govt. of West Bengal (Department of Education). The Zoological Park is the largest high altitude zoo in the country (India). In the year 2009, the Zoo has been awarded Institution Membership of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) in Berne.

Area:27.00 ha.

Location: Located near Himalayan Mountaineering Institute in Darjeeling district. The nearest major city is Siliguri which is 2˝ hrs. drive by car and 6 hrs.

Surulia Mini Zoo, Purulia

History: The Surulia Mini Zoo is situated on the out skirt of the Purulia town (05 kms) of West Bengal State. During the establishment of Rescue Centre-cum-deer park in 1998, the main objective was to re-introduce the captive borne spotted deer in the rejuvenated forests of Purulia district.

Area: The zoo is extended over an area of 1.5 Ha.

Location:. It is located within the municipal limits of Purulia town under Purulia P.S. The area is about 2 km from Purulia Railway station. It is about 500 m away from Purulia–Bankura State Highway.

Ramnabagan Mini Zoo, Burdwan

HISTORY : Ramnabagan Mini Zoo has been developed within the Ramnabagan Wild Life Sanctuary, a natural forest patch flourished during the feudal reign of Rajas and Maharajas of Bardhaman Taluk. After the promulgation of Estate Acquisition act, it was handed over to the Forest Department of West Bengal for management. In the year 1978, the area had been converted to a Deer Park with the introduction of 6 nos. of deer. Subsequently, the whole area of 14.31 ha. has been declared as Wild Life Sanctuary in 1981.

Area: Ramnabagan Mini Zoo with the Wild Life Sanctuary is spread over an area of 14.31 ha.

Location : It is located within the municipal limits of Burdwan town under P.S. Burdwan (Sadar).The area is about 4 km. away from Burdwan Railway station to the Western direction. It is about 50 m. away from G.T.Road (NH2) on Burdwan-Durgapur stretch. There is a good network of approach roads all along the periphery of the zoo.

Rasikbeel Mini Zoo

History: Being in close proximity of the Rasikbill Wetland, the area in 1997, was developed as eco-tourism spot and also to cater as a centre for rescued animals. The satellite centre of this Mini zoo, at Kholta, Coochbehar, rehabilitate rescued Spotted Deer and Sambar.

Area: Rasikbil Mini Zoo is spread over an area of 12 ha. area of Kholta, a picturesque eco-tourism spot is about 20 km from Cooch Behar, on the Aliporeduar Road.

Location :Rasikbeel Mini Zoo or Bochamari Gharial Rescue Centre & Deer Park is located in the Coochbehar district of West Bengal Under Tufanganj Subdivision. The Mini Zoo is located 45 km away towards north east of District town of Coochbehar at Kholta.

South Khairbari Leopard Safari & Rehabilitation Centre

History: South Khairbari Tiger Rehabilitation Centre and Leopard Safari was previously a highly degraded forest with a legal status of a Reserve Forest. Large tracts of once forested area got degraded due to illicit felling, cattle grazing, forest fires and collections of other non timber forest produce. A beginning was made somewhere around 2002-2003 to develop the site as an Eco-Tourism spot. With involvement of local people, the Leopard Rescue Centre was established and opened on November 2003.

Area of the Zoo: 12.00 hectares out of which 7 ha is for leopard safari.

Location: The South Khairbari Tiger Rehabilitation Centre and Leopard Safari is a mini zoo, located near Jaldapara WLS in the Jalpaigiri district of West Bengal within Falakata Block under Alipurduar Sub-division.
