Rapid Response Force

Definition

A team of staff, who are young, specially trained and properly equipped to handle exigencies arising out of straying of wild animals in the urban / semi-urban localities - a team which responds quickly within a minimum time frame and reaches the spot to effectively respond the situation and address the crisis, which may involve capture and translocation of the animal. This is the Rapid Response Force (RRF), which operating in the field, can control the situation within a very short span of time and thereby minimizes the loss of life and property.

Objective

The objective of RRF is to have a well trained, well equipped, dedicated team of personnel in readiness 24 x 7, to deal with the crisis arising out of strayed wild Elephants and other wild animals like Tiger, Leopard, Gaur, Rhinoceros etc. into thickly populated urban and semi-urban areas and also to control the situation due to migration of the strayed animals into non-traditional areas like Central Bengal.

Expected Outcome of RRF

  • Reduction in response time due to straying of Wild Animal into thickly populated areas;
  • Minimizing damage / loss to / of life and property;
  • Reduction in payment of Ex-Gratia due to damage / loss to / of life and property;
  • Effective integration of technological advances and evacuation of the distressed animal in minimum time and damage / injury;
  • Effective working as homogeneous strong team to mitigate the crisis;
  • Establish links / liaising with Police and other law enforcing agencies to mitigate the crisis.
