West Sundarban Wildlife Sanctuary has been declared as a new Wildlife Sanctuary under Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, vide notification no. 1828-For dated 11.09.2013 after the approval of State Board for Wildlife in its 8th meeting which was held on 06.02.2013. The West Sundarban WLS situated in South 24-Parganas, land covering the forest area of 556.45 sq. km. and comprising of Dulibhasani-1,2,3,4,5,6,7(part),8 and Chulkati-1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 comes under the West Sundarban WLS which is the 15th Wildlife Sanctuary in West Bengal. A vast track of rich mangrove forests lies in this Sanctuary, which harbours Tiger, Spotted Deer, Wild Boar, Estuarine Crocodile, Water Monitor Lizard, King Cobra etc.
